POST PARMO | PHOTO | THANKO

FEHM by Steve White

Admittedly its a bit of a risk to put on an event that mixes styles, audiences and genres.Thats especially so these days. As unfortunately, in our opinion, its become the norm for other events to standardise their bill, operate within restrictive parameters and rely on digital sponsored ads as opposed to legwork, local partnering, engaging directly with an audience, printing paper tickets and inking up hand stamps. Not so with the kind of pan-genre cultural carousel of event we here at Imagination Engine favour.

So its with a happy heart and smiling soul we’re able to say that last nights launch event was an absolute blinder. A lot of cool peoples, bands, friends and fans, both old and new, made it more than we at the label could have hoped for and that it was just what all of us needed to see off January in a suitably dismissive and celebratory style. Huge thanks to DannyMattFEHMHOLY BrailleFlies on youWestgarth Social Club fam, Mel Butler PhotographySteve and David and all of the crowd for making the event a most satisfying cultural happening indeed

We’ll be posting some more photos from the event throughout the coming week. Please let us know if you have selfies and mobile snaps as there was a big crowd at the event. Tag us in or msg them to the labels Facebook &/or Instagram pages. As we we would love to show others how much you all enjoyed the party and at the end of the doo, it is about you the audience, for whom we have and show much love.

What more can we say other than thanks again for making it a really special vibe and a memorable night too. Lets do it all again soon.

NEWS | LAUNCH PARTY + PROMO VID

When I’ve rolled home, kicked back and am listening to new music. I’m often buoyed upon a ruminative flow to contemplative plateaus. By way of example, this evening I’m listening to two great new tunes form FEHM and thinking, what is it that I love most about the UK indie scene? Well, upon reflection I would say that, for me, that which most accurately characterises the UK scene, is exactly the same as that which I love most about it. At its deepest core, its beating heart, the scene is an artwork sculpted from the hard graft of gigging bands in vans, risk it all for the cause venues bound together by the chattering background of promoters. A rich tapestry of passion commitment, community, creativity and connectivity.

Its times like these I realise I should get out more..

And suddenly, as if by magic, the opportunity presents itself.

As luck would have it, its now only a matter of weeks till we launch Imagination Engine presents at the Westgarth Social Club, Middlesbrough. We are ‘insert sincere yet verbose hyperbole’ at having FEHM headline for us and superb support from Holy Braille and Flies on You. Fortune favours the brave good friends. So get your big coats on, tickets bought and come down and celebrate the end of January at the beginning of something we hope this year grows into something we can all look back on with proud hearts, fond memories, loose somewhat disturbing grins and worn out dancing shoes.

FEBRUARY HEADLINERS LISTED IN NME TOP 100 for 2019

Imagination Engine are absolutely buzzing to be bringing Surfbort's Brooklyn Punk to Boro’

Since 2016’s self titled debut EP on Slope Surfbort's reach and appeal has exponentially increased. Surfbort have spawned limted EPs ‘Bort To Death’ on Hozac | ‘Romance’ on Cult and now their debut album ‘Friendship Music’ is released on Fat Possum. The visceral embrace of  their live shows touring the new LP and their unbridled creative energy result in a brand of hope glazed, riotous, art-damaged punk rock.

Their ''furious punk rock to stir your social anger' [NME, 2019] has seen the band selected to support Wolf Alice, Amyl and the Sniffers on thier respective tours. Playing to full houses at sellout gigs across the globe Surfbort have now been selected by NME  as one of the top 20 of NME’s Top 100 hot prospects for 2019.
