Cheap Lunch - Self Titled EP, Stream, Pre-order and Launch Party..

Cheap Lunch are set to release their ‘Self-Titled’ debut EP on the label later this month. At a satisfying length of seventeen minutes the five individually crafted tracks are intended to be heard as two broader compositions. Thusly allowing listeners to sit in, zone out and enjoy the riffs. The first is an introduction to the band’s sound; an intoxicating gut-punch into a black hole of anxiety, leaving listeners excited, laughing and maybe even crying for more.

The second act starts with the fuzz doom tongue-in-cheek ‘Lizards’ leading to the psych/space-rock interlude ‘Chernobyl Playground’ and finally stripping back for garage-rock closer ‘I’. The bands raw, energetic and expansive sound traverses multiple genre’s and influences as is audible in the peaks, chasms and throughout the entirety that is the journey into the immersive cosmos of the Cheap Lunch sound.

Whilst experienced in the way of universal travel the group have strong roots in the North East of England, namely Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The EP in fact was produced and engineered in their hometown, at Blank Studios and was recorded, mixed and mastered by Chris McManus.

And speaking of local legends, fellow Tynesiders ‘Eat Fast’ recently described Cheap Lunch as:

“Three really nice lo-fi lads who don’t give a fuck. Fuzzy, tongue in cheek, psychy, punky bastards"
... and the outstanding publication NARC said of the bands debut EP on the label that the sound:

"worms its way into your brain, equal parts hypnotic and jarring, slightly sinister but irresistible".

Alongside the digital two physical merchandise formats are available to pre-order now via the labels Bandcamp here and Big Cartel Store here. The limited edition runs of the Cheap Lunch Self-Titled EP are available on a high bias cassette tape in lizard green shell, with sticker and sleeve artwork by designer Sean Edgar (Brewdog/Fourpure) and housed in a crystal clear case.
